Lieutenant Colonel (Ret) Donald P. Lauzon, USA has joined Polu Kai as the Executive Vice President. Don recently served as the Director of Federal Programs and Associate for a large Engineer Firm. Colonel Lauzon is the former District Engineer/Commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Detroit District a 600 person team.
Don has over 28 years of successful corporate executive leadership experience in project engineering, project management, engineering analysis, and engineering operations with the USACE. As District Engineer/Commander for the USACE Detroit District, Don was responsible for executing water resource and construction projects on the Great lakes and in the states of Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota including maintenance of 98 harbors/navigation projects and over 4,000 miles of U.S. shoreline. Additionally, Don has extensive experience in construction quality assurance, construction safety, project management, and emergency disaster response operations. He most recently served as a Deputy Task Force Engineer for Operation Katrina in New Orleans.
A native of Rhode Island, Don earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Rhode Island College in 1986, A Master of Science degree in Construction Management from Colorado State University in 1994, and a Master of Art degree in Military Operational Art & Science from the U.S. Air Force, Air University in 1999. He is an active member of the Society of American Military Engineers, having served as President and Vice President of local Detroit and New Jersey posts, as well as an active member of the Army Engineer Association. His military awards and citations are very impressive and include; the Unit Presidential Citation, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star and many more prestigious honors and awards. Don resides in Northern Virginia with his wife and two children. In his spare time he is an avid golfer and has a 6 handicap.
