Restoration of Columbarium 3

Arlington National Cemetery is our nation’s most sacred shrine and the final resting place for our most revered military and civilian leaders. The Cemetery receives an estimated six million visitors per. Over 6,000 funerals are conducted yearly – in addition to over 2,000 ceremonies, such as wreath ceremonies, and head of state visits. These ceremonies and funerals often receive the intense focus of the press and other media – especially President Kennedy’s gravesite, the Memorial Amphitheater, and the Columbarium Complex.
PKS was contracted to provide all equipment, materials, labor and supervision for Columbarium #3, which structure measurements are 118’feet in width and 175’feet in length is approximately 20,650 square feet and contains 5,026 pre-cast concrete burial niches.
Scope of Work includes, but is not limited to:
- Replacement of flagstone pavers and mortar setting bed
- Repair and restore the interior and exterior stone surfaces within niche Columbarium Court 3
- Remove and salvage all flagstone pavers at the Columbarium Court 3.
- Replace broken pieces of flagstone and reset stone on new mortar setting bed in accordance
- Remove and cleanout all existing limestone joints located on the interior and exterior of the columbarium and re-grout with a colored mortar to match existing
- Replace broken pieces of flagstone and reset stone on new mortar setting bed in accordance
- Steam cleaning of the interior and exterior lime stone surfaces
- Remove, level and reset flagstone splash blocks
