Bldg. 51 NIH Fire House Expansion Project – National Institutes of Health
In August of 2021, PKS was awarded Task Order to expand the existing Apparatus Bay of the Firehouse to the West about 30 feet. The current size of the Apparatus Bay holds about eleven (11) vehicles. The Fire Department would like to have their Apparatus Bay expanded to accommodate an additional 3 to 4 vehicles maximizing its storage area by a total of 15 vehicles. The facility shall employ sustainable design features to achieve flexibility, energy efficiency, and quality work environment.
New work includes new exterior concrete, storm filter drainage boxes, structural steel and roofing. All roll up doors will be replaced along with new building wide paddle fans, electrical systems, new mechanical systems to support the addition, new brick façade and storefront.
This project is still being performed.
