Bldg. 40A VRC Expansion – Weather Barrier – National Institutes of Health
The SLC-PKS JV, LLC was contracted to complete an early construction package (Weather Barrier Early Construction Package) inside of Bldg. 40, for the purpose of enabling the demolition of the North Elevation of Bldg. 40 during a later phase.
The overall Project goal is the design and construction of an addition to the existing NIH VRC Bldg. 40, that provides the VRC with growth capacity, flexibility for change, and infrastructure for new, emerging, technologies. The new addition will allow current research program spaces to decompress through expansion, add space and equipment, and personnel capacity for both existing and new programs. Fulfilling these needs shall provide a facility that will support additional translational research work and accommodate a flexible environment of traditional bio-medical research laboratories, associated support spaces, computational work areas, offices, personnel support rooms, and collaborative areas.
