Design/Build New Salt Shed – National Institutes of Health

PKS was awarded a Design/Build Task Order to demolish the existing salt and sand storage shed (T-23) located east of building 11 and construct a new temporary storage facility for salt and sand. Although this was proposed as a temporary structure, the review comments and design seemed to turn it into a permanent structure with the design standards that needed to be followed. Work included excavation, new foundations, concrete slab, asphalt, 12’ high concrete walls with Allied steel structure above, new roll up doors on 2 bays with controls and lighting in all bays.
